30.11.2011 Mathematics association was inaugurated by Mr.K.P.Prabhakaran Master-State and National award winner for best teacher in mathematics. 7.2.2012 Mathematics department in association with Mathematics association conducted a program '' SADARAM 2012'' to honour retired heads of the department. Prof M.Gopinathan, Prof T.Balakrishnan and Prof.T.Kunheedu were honoured with "PONNADA". The Principal , teachers and students of the department were present. 16 2. 2012 As a part of Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Function, a Workshop on Real Analysis was held for Degree students. Mr. Anas. E (Mampad M E S College) and Dr. Saji Mathew (St. Joseph's College, Devagiri) were the resource persons. Students from various colleges in the jurisdiction of University of Calicut participated in the programme. 17. 2. 2012 Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Lecture of the year 2011-2012 was held at 9.30 A.M. at the Audio Visual Theatre, Farook College. Dr. P. T. Ramachandran, Department of Mathematics, University of Calicut presented a paper on the Heritage of Kerala Mathematics. Dr Sudheer. K delivered the welcome speech. The programme was presided by Smt. C. D. Vijayamma. and Ms. Aysha Hadya, IV Sem B. Sc. Mathematics expressed the vote of thanks. By the presentation, the students got an idea about the various contributions to mathematics by our ancestors in Kerala. 18. 2. 2012 One of the main events in the Prof. N. V. Beeran memorial function is the presentation of gold medal to the first rank holder of M.Sc. Mathematics examination of the University of Calicut. The winner of the gold medal for the year 2011 was Mr. Ajesh. T, from St. Thomas College, Thrissur. The function started at 11.00 A.M. Mr. Kunhimon. V. delivered the welcome speech. Ms. Ushakumari. T. V., HOD of Mathematics, Farook College presided the function. Mr. Imbichikoya. E. P., Principal, Farook College expressed felicitations. Prof. T. Balakrishnan Nair, Former HOD of Mathematics of the college shared his memories about Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib to the audience. Mr. K. Kunhalavi, Vice President, Farook College Managing Committee awarded the Prof. N. V. Beeran Sahib Memorial Gold Medal. Mr. Ajesh. T. expressed his gratitude. Mr. Mohammed Saleem Kunnath, Convener of the memorial function rendered the vote of thanks. 29. 2. 2012 With a view to motivate the students in their studies, the department has instituted a cash award to the topper of B.Sc. in the college, Mr. Mahesh. T. received the cash award for the year 2011. Ms. Sainaba. C. P. delivered the welcome speech. Ms. Ushakumari. T. V., HOD of Mathematics, Farook College presided the function. Mr. Imbichkoya. E. P., Principal, Farook College awarded the cash prize. Mr. Shayida. R. rendered the vote of thanks. 29. 2. 2012 The department organised a Lecture on Topology for P.G. students. Dr. T. K. Muraleedharan, St. Joseph’s College, Devagiri, Kozhikode made an expository lecture in the subject. It gave an overview of the concept of topology and its applications to the students. |
